Western North Carolina - Great Smoky Mountains
Western North Carolina is a widely used term to roughly describe the regionally as the area west of interstate 77. The farther west you travel the better it describes the region. We refer to western North Carolina regionally of the area west and southwest of Asheville. A most rural area that encompasses some of the most scenic landscapes in the United States. Here you will find the Great Smoky Mountain National Park, the beginning of the Blue Ridge Parkway, Nantahala Forest, Joyce Kilmer Memorial Forest and numerous lakes and rivers. It is a sportsman's paradise with some of the best fishing, hiking, and whitewater that you can find. Below you'll find some useful resources for information about the area including an up-to-date calendar of events.
