Appalachian Ballet presents fun kids program

"All About the Animals" offers ballet comedies and classics

All About the Animals, a compilation of animal-themed ballet comedies and classics, will be presented on Saturday, March 24, at the Clayton Center for the Arts.

The family-favorite program begins at 2 p.m..

The program presents excerpts from Tchaikovsky’s ballet Swan Lake, followed by a comedy entitled At The Zoo

That will be followed by The Carnival of the Animals, a humorous musical suite by the French  composer Camille Saint-Saëns, with new choreography by director Amy Morton Vaughn.

A short dance work about funny zoo animals titled The Incredible Petes will round out the first half of the program.

After a 20-minute intermission, the show will conclude with Peter and the Wolf, a symphonic fairy tale for children in which the narrator tells a children's story, the orchestra illustrates it, and the ballet company interprets the story through dance.

Adult tickets are $20-$25 in advance, with student tickets half price. Ticket are available at www.claytonartscenter.com or by calling the Clayton Center for the Arts  at 865-981-8590.
