Marla is familiar to SML readers for her articles about author Robert Beatty and his wildly popular Serafina novels, or the recent feature about the Mt. Mitchell Crafts Fair and the North Carolina Mineral and Gem Festival.

Marla is the author of three earlier books that shed light on Asheville history—Only in Asheville: An Eclectic History (2015); Legends, Secrets and Mysteries of Asheville (2017); and Wicked Asheville (2018).
